OUR JOURNEY

From a small committee to a green revolution. Here is how we’ve grown since 1997.

1997

The First Step

A local committee formed to set up a Furniture Project, providing essentials for families in need while creating training and volunteering opportunities.

1998

Official Charity Status

The Furniture Project (Stranraer) Limited was officially formed and registered as a charity with HMRC, starting a pilot in the Dicks Hill area.

1999

Full Time Operations

A National Lottery award allowed us to employ four staff and expand our vital services throughout Wigtownshire.

2003

Social Enterprise of the Year

The team was awarded Best Social Enterprise in Dumfries & Galloway, marking our transition into a self-sustaining business model.

2011

Revolve Accreditation

Awarded Revolve accreditation by Zero Waste Scotland for the first time, certifying our quality and safety standards.

2015

A 20-Year Legacy

Awarded a landmark 20-year Reuse Contract by D&G Council to operate reuse services from the Zero Waste Park in Stranraer.

2017

Enterprise House Opens

We moved to our state-of-the-art, "first of its kind" center on the Zero Waste Park and rebranded as the Community Reuse Shop.

2019

Community Support

Partnered with the Anti-Poverty team to provide free school uniforms and launched our Christmas Hamper service for families in need.

With 31 employees (up from a projected 8), we won the Scotland’s Town Award for Climate Change / Net Zero.
