OUR JOURNEY
From a small committee to a green revolution. Here is how we’ve grown since 1997.
The First Step
A local committee formed to set up a Furniture Project, providing essentials for families in need while creating training and volunteering opportunities.
Official Charity Status
The Furniture Project (Stranraer) Limited was officially formed and registered as a charity with HMRC, starting a pilot in the Dicks Hill area.
Full Time Operations
A National Lottery award allowed us to employ four staff and expand our vital services throughout Wigtownshire.
Social Enterprise of the Year
The team was awarded Best Social Enterprise in Dumfries & Galloway, marking our transition into a self-sustaining business model.
Revolve Accreditation
Awarded Revolve accreditation by Zero Waste Scotland for the first time, certifying our quality and safety standards.
A 20-Year Legacy
Awarded a landmark 20-year Reuse Contract by D&G Council to operate reuse services from the Zero Waste Park in Stranraer.
Enterprise House Opens
We moved to our state-of-the-art, "first of its kind" center on the Zero Waste Park and rebranded as the Community Reuse Shop.
Community Support
Partnered with the Anti-Poverty team to provide free school uniforms and launched our Christmas Hamper service for families in need.
Climate Change Winners
With 31 employees (up from a projected 8), we won the Scotland’s Town Award for Climate Change / Net Zero.
